According to the Higher Council of the Colleges of Architects of Spain (CSCAE), in 2025 55,558 homes were approved for major rehabilitation, representing a 117% increase over 2019 and the highest figure in the recent historical series. Behind that number are thousands of ongoing projects in apartments, historic districts, and urban parcels where, unlike large-scale developments, there is often not enough space to install large-scale video surveillance infrastructure.
It is in this type of projects where the same problem tends to arise. “We encounter site managers who, after suffering tool or copper thefts, end up buying detectors on their own and installing them themselves,” explains Ignacio González, CEO of BauWatch Spain. “The result is that they become a constant source of unverified nighttime alerts. If something happens at three in the morning, no one is watching, leaving them without documented evidence if later they need to file a claim with the insurer.”
That gap (protecting interiors, compact spaces, completed buildings, or hard-to-reach areas where other solutions don’t reach) is what BauWatch aims to fill with BauWatch Flex, a new modular wireless security solution that expands its catalog in Spain.
A single service for both perimeter and interior
Each BauWatch Flex kit includes a central unit connected to motion detectors with cameras, a numeric keypad, and a siren. The detection technology filters false alarms at the source. Alerts that exceed that filter are escalated with images to an Alarm Receiving Center (ARC) certified by our partner, where a security expert analyzes them and confirms the threat before triggering the response protocol. This resolves the most common problem of self-installed devices and minimizes unnecessary interventions.
“With BauWatch Flex we offer an all-around protection service. The detection technology filters false alarms at the source and, when a real alert fires, the team verifies it with images before acting. This frees up the site manager’s workload while ensuring that every incident is documented for the insurer,” explains Ignacio González, CEO of BauWatch Spain.
The key is that this system connects to the same platform, MyBauWatch, the app from which customers manage their video surveillance towers. In this way, alarms from the towers and from Flex are viewed in a single place, under one contract and with a single point of contact for the entire project.
