From Employee to Entrepreneur: How a Franchise Drives Career Growth

July 29, 2026

The franchise model continues to solidify as one of the business formulas with the greatest growth and employment-creating capacity in Spain. Just in 2025, the sector reached a turnover of €38.591 billion, a 15% increase over the previous year, establishing itself as one of the country’s major economic engines, according to data published by the Spanish Franchise Association (AEF).

This trend is also reflected in sectors such as automotive, where technological transformation and the growing specialization of technical profiles are driving new opportunities for professional development and entrepreneurship. In this context, the Midas chain reinforces its commitment to professional growth and internal entrepreneurship through a model based on continuous training, internal promotion, and support to employees who wish to evolve within the company until they become entrepreneurs at the head of their own workshop.

In Midas we firmly believe that the growth of a company starts with developing internal talent. That’s why we work to offer real opportunities of professional evolution, supporting our teams at every stage and showing that within the automotive sector it is possible to build a long-term career and even entrepreneurship with the backing of a well-established brand,” says Gemma Jiménez, head of HR at Midas Spain.

A model based on internal development

With more than 190 centers operating under a franchise model in Spain, Midas has made internal development one of the pillars of its talent strategy. The company works to ensure that professionals who join the network can build a long-term career, taking on new responsibilities and evolving professionally within the organization.

This commitment to professional growth goes beyond traditional internal promotion. In fact, 25% of the company’s annual openings come from professionals who were already part of the network and have made the leap into entrepreneurship, becoming Midas franchisees.

The commitment to talent development is also reflected in growth opportunities within the company structure. Over the last year, 9% of the network’s technical profiles advanced to higher-responsibility roles. Likewise, the average tenure of teams stands at 13 years, reflecting a sustained commitment to stability and professional advancement.

We want the people who are part of Midas to see that they can develop their entire professional career within the company, even reaching the point of leading their own business. We are committed to supporting and growing internal talent, offering real development opportunities in a sector with great future potential,” says Jiménez.

Training as a growth lever

Midas views training as a key tool to boost the professional development of its teams. In a sector that is constantly evolving, marked by electrification, digitalization, and the adoption of new technologies, the company works to ensure its professionals maintain a continuous updating of knowledge and skills.

To this end, it runs the Midas Talent Center, a training program that includes initiatives such as Driver Academy, developed in partnership with Norauto, as well as its own Advanced Training for Electromechanics program, focused on electricity applied to automotive technology. Through these initiatives, the company equips its teams to respond to the new demands of mobility and continue advancing in their professional development within the organization.

This commitment to continuous learning also extends to management and leadership. Recently, the company completed a training program aimed at franchisees and managers of its own centers. Developed with Fuerza Comercial – University School of Sales and the Autonomous University of Madrid, the program has addressed key competencies such as leadership, team management, customer service, sales, and business management, strengthening the centers’ ability to continue delivering excellence in service.
