To solve it, the Spanish startup Dimenso has created smart glasses with artificial intelligence that see, listen, and record work in real time. This tool helps scientists reduce errors, ensure data traceability, and control costs. Additionally, the company just raised €600,000 in a funding round led by Draper B1 and joined by Next Tier Ventures.
Strategically based in Kendall Square (Boston), one of the world’s leading hubs of biotechnological innovation, home to companies like Moderna and Biogen, and close to MIT and Harvard, the company has developed an AI platform (Physical AI) that accompanies scientists through their research. Through computer vision and voice commands, Dimenso automatically captures, verifies, and structures actions, observations, and data generated in the lab environment, automating documentation, detecting possible deviations, and turning each experiment into actionable information for the next steps.
Real-time efficiency and cost prevention
This continuous monitoring enables instant detection of deviations and prevents human errors that typically force researchers to repeat entire investigations, with the resulting weeks or months of delay and multimillion-dollar losses for the industry. According to the startup’s data, their platform speeds up the analysis of experimental data by up to 20x and reduces by 65% the time scientists spend on administrative tasks.

From Boston to Spanish laboratories
Founded by Luis Alvear, Álvaro Buitrago, and Daniel de la Pedraja, and backed by a multidisciplinary team that includes profiles with experience at organizations such as Tesla, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard Business School, Dimenso’s proposal arrives at a moment of feverish activity at the intersection of AI and Life Sciences. Notably, following recent deals by giants such as OpenAI or Anthropic with major pharmaceutical companies to accelerate R&D algorithmically, the Spanish startup tackles the “last mile” of this process: bringing artificial intelligence to physical execution inside the laboratory.
With this capital infusion, the company will accelerate its commercial rollout in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in both the United States and Spain, where it already collaborates with leading companies and academic centers.
