The National Federation of Associations of Self-Employed Workers (ATA) expresses its support for the General Council of Dentists of Spain, which is part of ATA’s Health Sector, in light of the recent suspension of activity at more than one hundred Vivanta Group clinics.
ATA expresses its support and stands with the affected patients, who face immense uncertainty regarding the continuity of their treatments and about the substantial sums paid upfront. “We deeply regret this new closure, which, like others that have occurred in the past, causes serious damage to the image of the entire dental profession, the vast majority of which works with absolute commitment to patient care,” says Lorenzo Amor, president of ATA.
It is particularly worrying that this situation erupted after, in June 2022, public support of 40 million euros was approved for this company. Therefore, from ATA we call on the authorities for full transparency in the granting and oversight of such public aid.
Such news damages the image of a group as important and necessary as self-employed dentists, professionals who sustain a large portion of the dental care in our country without having access to support mechanisms comparable to that 40 million euros.
For all these reasons, it is necessary to advocate for a framework of support for these self-employed workers and small businesses who open their doors every morning, pay their taxes, personally assume the risks of their activity, and maintain jobs under strict health and tax obligations, and who have weathered the difficulties of recent years on their own.
