The Spanish Association of Business Consultants (AECEM) has been recognized by the Third Sector Platform as the new Ambassador of the Solidarity Company Box, an initiative that allows companies to allocate 0.7% of their full Corporate Income Tax liability to social projects, without paying more or altering the result of their tax return.
The appointment reinforces the role of advisory firms, consultants, and professional practices as key allies of SMBs at a moment when corporate social responsibility is no longer just a reputational issue, but also a means to actively participate in social development.
The Solidarity Company Box is aimed at organizations that file Corporate Tax returns and enables funding of projects driven by nonprofits, especially in areas such as social inclusion, poverty reduction, equal opportunities, and the protection of people in vulnerable situations.
From the Third Sector Platform, which represents nearly 28,000 social entities, the ability of AECEM to bring this initiative closer to the business fabric through its members has been highlighted. Its inclusion in the network of ambassador entities aims precisely to increase awareness of this option among companies, many of which are still unaware that they can contribute to social causes without incurring any additional cost.
Why it’s attractive for SMBs
For SMBs, the measure is especially attractive because it turns an existing tax obligation into an opportunity for social impact. It is not a donation, nor a deduction, nor an added expense: it simply involves checking a box within the Corporate Tax return.
Specifically, companies should select the option “Other fields – Social purposes” in box 00073 of Form 200 or in box 069 of Form 220.
During the recognition ceremony, Ana Mato, president of AECEM, highlighted the role of advisors in guiding companies toward more responsible business models. She argued that these professionals not only help fulfill legal or tax obligations but also contribute to transmitting values and corporate culture.
AECEM, which brings together more than 1,000 consultants, advisors, and lawyers, will continue to drive actions so that consulting firms and companies better understand this tool and can easily incorporate it into their tax planning.
