Getac CommandCore: Drone Control for Operations in Extreme Environments

April 15, 2026

Getac Technology Corporation has launched CommandCore, its new rugged remote drone control solution designed for professional operations in complex environments.

CommandCore enables customers to combine Getac’s rugged hardware with accessories, payloads, and software tailored to each sector, according to their needs and use cases. The result is a comprehensive control solution for UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), USVs (Unmanned Surface Vehicles) and UGVs (Unmanned Ground Vehicles) that is fully adaptable, capable of fitting a wide range of environments and operating scenarios, such as those found in defense, public safety, infrastructure, and utilities sectors.

At the heart of the solution lies Getac’s Ground Control Station (GCS), a mission-ready control platform designed for real-time data processing, drone control in extreme conditions, and comprehensive management of operational parameters.

Depending on needs, users can choose from different rugged Getac devices for the control station, such as the fully rugged Android tablet ZX80, the fully rugged Windows tablet UX10, the rugged Windows laptop S510, the rugged Windows laptop B360, and the fully rugged Windows workstation X600.

The configuration of the Ground Control Station can also be customized to offer maximum flexibility, including a fully integrated design with built-in drone controls and a type of accessory that allows separating the Getac device from the externally hosted drone controls when convenient. Other configuration options include an office dock and a briefcase design with dual screens, intended for use in mobile command-and-control operations.

Rugged Reliability with Modular Architecture

CommandCore has been designed from the ground up to withstand harsh, unpredictable, and mission-critical operating environments without compromising performance. Its proven rugged design ensures field reliability, while its modular, scalable, and configurable architecture enables seamless customization, expansion, and adaptation to the changing operational needs of multiple industries.

Moreover, it integrates easily into diverse drone ecosystems, ensuring interoperability with third-party technologies and fostering long-term collaborative evolution of systems. Getac’s GCS is available in Android and Windows versions, while its solid, high-performance computing platform supports real-time critical operations in demanding environments.

On the other hand, the solution enables drone operations in extreme terrain or high-pressure situations, such as those commonly found in the defense, public safety, and infrastructure-and-utilities sectors:

  • Defense: Enables ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) operations from mobile or semi-stationary command posts, providing real-time information that supports planning and execution of missions on land, sea, and air.
  • Public Safety: Drone reconnaissance has become a key element in emergency response, from wildfires or floods to search-and-rescue operations. CommandCore allows first responders to collect critical information quickly and efficiently, whether from a nearby mobile command vehicle or directly from the field via a portable GCS.
  • Infrastructure and Utilities: Empowers professionals in the sector to remotely inspect large-scale infrastructures and assets, such as power lines, substations, pipelines, and railways, using waypoint-guided navigation from a centralized operations center. Beyond large-scale monitoring, CommandCore provides the reliable remote-control capabilities needed to quickly assess remote rural areas, minimizing the need for teams to physically move through dangerous or high-voltage terrain.

“As drone use expands across many industries worldwide, the demand for remote-control solutions is rising significantly,” says James Hwang, president of Getac Technology Corporation, adding: “CommandCore meets this need, providing professionals who work every day in demanding environments with a rugged, highly customizable solution they can trust to get the job done when it matters most.”
