Epson has launched new wireless A4 document scanners, the WorkForce ES-550W and the ES-590W, designed to deliver high-speed, intelligent, and flexible document scanning for small businesses and remote workers.
Designed for hybrid work environments, both models combine fast one-pass duplex scanning, advanced media handling, and wireless connectivity, enabling digitalization, organization, and sharing of documents seamlessly across devices and locations.
Both the ES-550W and ES-590W deliver strong performance with scan speeds of up to 45 ppm (90 ipm) and a 100-page automatic document feeder, making them ideal for capturing large volumes of documents.
They support a wide range of media sizes for flexible use, from small business cards (50.8 mm / 2 inches) to long documents up to 6,096 mm (about 20 ft), and paper weights of 27–413 g/m². This enables users to digitize everything from receipts to thick documents on a single device.
Specific Features
The ES-550W offers Wi‑Fi and USB connectivity, allowing scanning via PC, Mac, smartphone, or tablet using the Epson ScanSmart and Smart Panel apps. Advanced reliability features that boost dependability, such as ultrasonic single/double-feed detection, paper‑protect sensors, and dirt detection on the glass, help prevent jams and ensure high-quality scans.
On the other hand, the ES-590W expands these capabilities with greater ease of use and autonomous functionality. A 4.3-inch touchscreen enables intuitive operation without a PC, allowing users to scan directly to email, network folders, USB devices, and cloud services without a computer.
With the ScanWay feature, it is possible to send documents directly to cloud services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and SharePoint, improving workflow efficiency and reducing reliance on intermediary devices.
The ES-590W also offers greater network flexibility, with setup via touchscreen, mobile app, or web interface, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for simplified configuration, making it suitable for both individual users and small teams.
Both models share a robust hardware platform designed to deliver reliability and efficiency. Among their features are:

- 100-page ADF and a daily duty cycle of 5,000 pages for steady performance.
- Wide media compatibility to reduce the need for additional devices.
- Advanced image processing technology, including automatic cropping, deskew, and blank-page removal.

Additionally, Epson’s glass dirt-detection system continuously monitors the scanner’s condition during operation, alerting users to contamination and helping to reduce re-scans and downtime.
