Worldline now includes BizumPay integrated into its omnichannel platform, enabling Spanish retailers to accept Bizum payments at physical point-of-sale locations starting in May 2026.
This launch comes at a pivotal moment for Spanish retail, where consumers increasingly demand seamless cross-channel payment experiences, and where checkout performance has become a direct driver of conversion and customer loyalty.
Already widely adopted in e-commerce in Spain, Bizum has established itself as one of the digital payment methods preferred by consumers thanks to its simplicity, speed, and familiarity. With BizumPay reaching physical point of sale in May, retailers will now have the opportunity to extend that same trusted experience to the in-store environment as well.
For retailers, this means much more than adding a new payment method. It is about reducing friction in the purchase process and allowing consumers to pay with the methods they already use in their daily lives.
High success rates
According to Worldline data, the local payment methods preferred by consumers can reach success rates of over 97%, significantly reducing checkout abandonment and improving conversion, especially in high-frequency retail environments where speed and convenience are essential.
“At Worldline, we are seeing payments become a strategic part of the customer experience, says Jaume Llinás, Head of Retail Iberia at Worldline. Consumers no longer differentiate between online and physical retail: they expect the same simplicity across any channel. Bringing BizumPay to in-store payments helps retailers close that omnichannel gap.“
Through its omnichannel platform, Worldline enables merchants to unify local and international payment methods across e-commerce, physical retail, and self-service environments within a single infrastructure. The BizumPay integration complements existing support for cards, wallets, and alternative payment methods, helping retailers streamline operations while adapting to evolving consumer behavior.
This launch also reflects the evolution of the European payments ecosystem, where local payment solutions, instant payments, and digital wallets are progressively converging toward more connected and interoperable experiences.
By enabling Bizum acceptance both online and in physical stores, Worldline reinforces its position as a strategic partner for merchants looking to modernize their payments infrastructure, as well as its commitment to advancing European payment sovereignty through a unified and secure platform that integrates local and international payment methods for merchants and consumers across Europe.
