GranCasa already has a winner for the Open Call program, the initiative led by Sonae Sierra to support entrepreneurs and emerging brands in the retail sector, offering them the opportunity to validate their business model in a real-world retail setting by granting a free storefront.
Following the close of applications, the call highlighted the talent, creativity, and potential of the Aragonese entrepreneurial ecosystem. The high caliber of the projects submitted made the selection process particularly demanding, and ultimately the winner emerged as Voladora, a fashion brand born in Aragon.
Behind Voladora are María Pérez-Perruca and Nuria Colomer, two entrepreneurs who met while studying in Valencia and began developing the brand during their junior year of college. What started with an investment to buy barely 30 sweatshirts has grown into a venture that has sold more than 100,000 garments.
After finishing their studies, the pair moved to Zaragoza to professionalize the project and establish the company. Since then, they have built a brand with a clearly defined identity, centered on clothing with personality, timeless pieces with an artistic edge, aimed primarily at women who want to stand out without sacrificing comfort or versatility.
Their offering strives to strike a balance between comfort and distinctive style, incorporating colors, prints, silhouettes, and distinctive details, while moving away from the rapid tempo of trends to champion garments designed to endure over time.
An Opportunity to Test the Leap into a Physical Space
Thanks to the Open Call program, Voladora will be able to operate a storefront inside GranCasa for a month, with the opening scheduled for next October. This experience will be especially meaningful for a brand whose growth has occurred primarily through digital channels and short-term physical activations.
“It’s an incredible and important opportunity. In addition to being able to offer a store in our city and in a location like GranCasa, from a business perspective it will allow us to test many things and gather insights for future openings. It will give us a completely new perspective,” explain María and Nuria.
The experience will bring Voladora closer to both new audiences and its existing community and allow them to analyze, over a longer period, how the brand performs in a real-world retail environment.
“We have never opened a pop-up for such a long duration. Normally we run stores for two or three days, so having a space for a month will be a lot of fun and, at the same time, a real challenge. We’ll be able to reach more people, both new and loyal customers, in one of Zaragoza’s best areas,” add the founders.
