Tecnio Opens Europe’s Largest Technical Training Center in Alcorcón, Spain

April 28, 2026

The advanced technical training center of the educational group thePower Education has opened in Alcorcón the largest advanced technical training center in Europe. With about 3,000 square meters (roughly 32,000 square feet) spread across four floors, it stands as the continent’s most ambitious complex designed to reproduce real-world work environments. Its ultimate aim is to ensure a 100% employability rate for its students and directly close the talent gap affecting Spain’s current industry.

The facilities are capable of training more than 5,000 students per year through an intensive training model and a faculty of more than 20 professionals from different specialties, oriented toward hands-on immersion and aligned with current industry needs. In that regard, it integrates state-of-the-art welding booths, fully equipped automotive workshops, technical electricity classrooms, and dedicated spaces for training in thermal systems and solar photovoltaic energy.

The welding area stands out especially, configured as one of the center’s strategic cores due to the high demand for these profiles in the job market. Equipped with individual booths, self-aspirating benches and professional equipment, it enables training in technical procedures such as MIG/MAG, TIG, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) or high-pressure piping.

The launch of this second Tecnio center in the Community of Madrid has represented a multimillion-euro investment for the Spanish educational group thePower Education. In doing so, it reaffirms its ambitious expansion plan in Spain, where it already operates more than ten specialized schools and employs a team of more than 400 professionals. Globally, the Spanish education group has trained more than 120,000 students and is present in more than 60 countries.

Demand for technical training grows 20% in 2026

According to Tecnio’s internal data, demand for training in technical profiles rose 20% in 2026 compared with 2025, confirming a sustained growth trajectory driven by the strong capacity of these professionals to be absorbed by the business community. However, the shortage of qualified professionals in technical trades, compounded by the generational handover, has solidified as one of the main structural challenges facing Spain’s industry. Sectors such as electricity, welding, automotive, HVAC or renewable energy have long warned about the difficulty of filling these profiles.

In this context, Antón Adanero, CEO of Tecnio, says: “We are facing a paradigm shift in technical training. The industry can no longer afford long adjustment periods or profiles that require additional training once hired. This center precisely addresses that demand: to train professionals with technical judgment, operational capability and real-world experience from the start. Our aim is to directly align training with the productive needs of companies and help resolve a talent deficit that is already structural in key sectors of the economy. This center is only the first step of an expansion plan that aims to replicate this model in other regions of Spain.”
