Samsung Expands Galaxy Ecosystem With New Galaxy Tab S12 and SmartTag3

October 13, 2026

Samsung expands its Galaxy device ecosystem with two announcements that directly address two needs increasingly common among users: working more productively from anywhere and keeping everyday essentials easily trackable. The company today unveils the new Galaxy Tab S12 series, led by Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+, along with the new Galaxy SmartTag3.

The new tablets represent Samsung’s most ambitious foray into this form factor to date. The company blends an ultrathin design with features geared toward both professional work and creativity, once again placing artificial intelligence at the core of the experience.

Galaxy Tab S12 Puts AI-Driven Productivity First

The new family consists of Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+, two devices conceived for those who want to use the tablet as a tool for work, beyond mere content consumption.

One of its main selling points is the integration of the latest Galaxy AI features, designed to streamline everyday tasks and make working with content, documents, and apps faster. AI is thus woven into a proposition that also preserves one of the hallmark elements of Samsung’s premium tablets: the S Pen.

The digital pen enables work that is especially oriented toward writing, annotations, drawing, or editing, reinforcing the versatility of devices that aim to occupy a space between traditional tablets and laptops.

Samsung has also strengthened the professional software lineup available from day one. Among the most significant updates is the arrival of Adobe Photoshop preinstalled for the first time on Android tablets, a move aimed especially at creative professionals and users accustomed to working with advanced editing tools.

Photoshop is joined by apps such as Notability, GoodNotes, and LumaFusion, expanding possibilities in areas like note-taking, content organization, digital handwriting, or video editing.

All of this is complemented by long-lasting battery life and an ultrathin design, two important traits for devices designed to accompany users throughout the day and to facilitate mobile work.

From Creative Work to Locating Any Object

The second announcement from Samsung has a much smaller footprint, but aims to make daily life easier as well. Galaxy SmartTag3 is an evolution of the company’s small tracking device and arrives with improvements in design as well as in battery life and accuracy.

The new model is 35% smaller than its predecessor, making it easier to attach to keys, backpacks, suitcases, or other items you want to keep tabs on.

One of its big updates is expanded compatibility. SmartTag3 can be used not only within the Galaxy ecosystem but also with iOS devices, greatly broadening the potential user base for the accessory.

Samsung has also focused on one of the most important aspects for a device that must stay active for long periods: the battery. The new SmartTag3 achieves up to 790 days of standby time, reducing the need to replace or recharge its power source.

Greater Range and Proactive Alerts

The technology responsible for pinpointing where each object is also improves. Thanks to Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding, the location range extends up to 60 meters, expanding the possibilities when trying to locate a nearby item.

But perhaps one of the most interesting changes is the shift from reactive localization to a more proactive experience. SmartTag3 can generate alerts when an object enters or leaves a designated area, as well as alerting when it detects movement.

These features open up new usage scenarios. Beyond simply finding keys you can’t remember where you left them, the device can warn the user about certain movements or that an item has left its defined perimeter.

With Galaxy Tab S12 and SmartTag3, Samsung tackles two very different categories under a single umbrella: using technology, AI, and connectivity to eliminate small daily frictions. While the new tablets aim to reduce the time needed to create, organize, and work, SmartTag3 aims to make losing track of our objects increasingly unlikely.
