Engineers can now receive a quote, a delivery-time estimate, and place an order for a finished component in minutes, as part of a service that covers cutting, welding, and surface finishing.
As the first solution of its kind on the European market, meviy enables automatic quotes for complete welded assemblies, rather than being limited to individual sheet-metal parts.
Welded Sheet Metal
The new “Welded Sheet Metal” service within the platform has been developed for companies managing projects that require rapid production of custom elements and small-batch fabrication. The platform lets users upload a 3D CAD model of a finished component, automatically verify manufacturability, and receive an instant quote along with a delivery estimate. Orders can cover the entire fabrication process—from cutting and welding to surface finishing—without the need to prepare additional technical documentation, 2D drawings, or coordinate multiple subcontractors.
The overall process of sourcing welded components remains highly fragmented. “Companies tend to outsource cutting, welding, machining, and finishing separately, while obtaining a quote for a project requires contacting multiple suppliers and spending days coordinating the process. This problem becomes especially evident in prototypes, custom parts, and low-volume production, where the time needed to prepare quotes and organize the process is disproportionately long relative to the scale of the project. In these cases, most digital manufacturing platforms still rely on manual quotes and customized handling of requests,” explains Małgorzata Kaliszewska, MISUMI’s Marketing Director and owner of the meviy platform.
Digital Manufacturing Without Multiple Suppliers
The platform automates this process by analyzing the geometry of a complete welded assembly directly from a 3D model. The service enables ordering, among other items, enclosures, covers, angular frames, supports, and multi-piece sheet-metal assemblies. The system identifies the connections between the different elements, generates quotes, and allows the purchase of a finished product within a single digital environment. Users can verify weld locations recognized in a 3D viewer before finalizing the order. The entire process—including quoting, fabrication, and finishing of the component—is managed within a single system, a single order, and a single procurement workflow.
The solution is especially geared toward companies that manufacture short runs and engage in industrial automation and special machinery projects. “These segments are highly relevant in the European manufacturing market, where companies frequently collaborate with multiple local partners at the same time, while coordinating production and logistics adds costs and lengthens delivery times. The service covers the fabrication of components in structural steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, with various welding methods and available surface-finishing options, including powder coating, anodizing, and protective coatings. The platform supports both individual prototypes and small production runs. All assemblies undergo visual inspections and dimensional measurements at multiple stages of the fabrication process and before the finished component is shipped.
