Lenovo has introduced a new generation of AI-optimized workstations designed for development, inference, and on‑device AI creation. The new lineup includes the models ThinkPad P14s i Gen 7, ThinkPad P14s Gen 7 AMD, ThinkPad P16s i Gen 5, ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 AMD, ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 and the desktop computer ThinkStation P5 Gen 2.
Designed for students, engineers, data scientists, or any other user, the new workstations deliver unprecedented performance and are capable of running the most demanding workflows, including CAD and BIM design, data engineering, AI development, and more. As part of the new Hybrid AI Advantage with NVIDIA by Lenovo solutions, these systems accelerate AI adoption, boost business productivity, and shorten AI deployment ROI, reflecting Lenovo’s commitment to offering smarter solutions tailored to present-day challenges.
“AI is evolving faster than ever, and today’s professionals need more than just powerful hardware with exceptional performance. They want scalable productivity solutions that fit their individual needs, including the ability to process data anywhere and anytime it’s required,”
quoted Tom Butler, vice president of the Commercial Portfolio and Product Management for Lenovo’s Intelligent Devices Group.
“Our latest selection of workstations answers these needs, whether it’s students seeking greater mobility as they enter the AI job market, designers and creators looking for top performance while on the move, or engineers needing expandability and reliability. These considerations form the foundation of our Hybrid AI strategy with the ability to run workloads in edge environments, cloud collaboration connectivity, and AI performance wherever it’s needed.”
Integrated AI in devices and workstations for everyone
The latest Lenovo workstations offer a new level of productivity thanks to AI integrated directly into the devices themselves, accelerating design, inference, and model development without needing cloud connectivity. Across the ThinkPad P Series, dedicated NPUs and the new generation of Intel and AMD processors work alongside NVIDIA RTX PRO Blackwell GPUs to speed up AI tasks, shortening the cycle from data input to results. The new AI-ready Lenovo workstations include:
- ThinkPad P14s Gen 7. The lightest AI-ready mobile workstation in Lenovo’s lineup, the ThinkPad P14s Gen 7 offers true workstation performance in a compact, portable design. Built for professionals seeking a secure, highly portable device, the 14-inch ThinkPad P14s Gen 7 delivers peak efficiency and speed by pairing Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors with Intel vPro and NVIDIA RTX PRO Blackwell Generation Laptop GPUs or AMD Ryzen™ AI PRO 400 Series processors with up to AMD Radeon 890M.
- ThinkPad P16s Gen 5. A new generation of mobile workstations redesigned from the ground up. The new 16-inch ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 raises performance and AI-readiness to a new level for heavy workloads. Powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3 with Intel vPro or AMD Ryzen™ AI PRO 400 Series processors with advanced NPU architectures, this workstation can include an NVIDIA RTX PRO Blackwell Generation Laptop GPU to achieve professional-grade visuals and AI-assisted tasks. Ideal for engineers and designers who travel frequently, ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 is notable for its light weight — a mere 1.76 kg.
- ThinkPad P1 Gen 9. For engineers and creative professionals who need uncompromising performance, the ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 delivers across the board with a premium ultrathin design housing an Intel Core Ultra Series 3 with Intel vPro and up to 16 cores, as well as a dedicated NVIDIA RTX PRO Blackwell Generation Laptop GPU capable of reaching up to 672 TOPS. It’s the dream machine for any AI developer, with enough power to run CAD/BIM 3D design tasks on the go; ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 is simply the ThinkPad with the largest capacity to date and the go-to model for color, rendering, or high-end visualization workflows.
- ThinkStation P5 Gen 2. The new benchmark for desktop workstations built for general-purpose use, the ThinkStation P5 Gen 2 maximizes its capacity to deliver exceptional performance, scalability, and reliability. Equipped with Intel Xeon 600 Series processors for workstations and up to two NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q Workstation Edition GPUs, the ThinkStation P5 Gen 2 tower is designed to handle tasks with high computational demands, including complex 3D CAD designs, high-resolution rendering, medical imaging analysis, molecular modeling, and AI model development. This device is ideal for visual effects artists and AI developers, as well as data scientists and healthcare professionals.
Lenovo will also support NVIDIA OpenShell, an enterprise-grade AI agent framework focused on security, privacy, and scalability, accelerated by selected workstations, including the ThinkStation P5 Gen 2. With NVIDIA OpenShell, Lenovo ThinkStation workstations can host secure, customizable AI agents with all the features needed to automate complex workflows directly on the systems, bringing AI where it is required.
Future-ready designs with maximum security
Beyond performance, the latest workstations are protected by Lenovo ThinkShield, a comprehensive security suite at firmware and hardware levels, including BIOS-level protection, secure erase, and built-in privacy controls to help safeguard sensitive information and deliver enterprise-grade security. The ThinkPad mobile workstations incorporate recycled materials into the chassis, wear environmental certifications EPEAT Gold, ENERGY STAR 9.0, TCO Certified 10.0 and MIL-STD-810H ruggedness certification. In addition, their cutting-edge designs facilitate repair by including more user-replaceable units, as well as expandable memory and storage.
Lenovo also announced a new proof of concept, the world’s first 1,000Wh/L battery with a silicon anode for laptops and workstations, which provides a more than 10% energy-density improvement over previous generations. With a capacity of up to 99.9Wh without increasing size, the ED1000 battery technology will improve battery life and performance in future Lenovo devices. Developed in collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, this battery sets a new industrial standard and opens new possibilities for battery life and form factors in high-performance laptops.
