Komvo, the online group-reservation platform, was born in Madrid with the aim of simplifying the organization of group meals and dinners, a challenge for both users and restaurants. The startup, founded by young entrepreneurs under 30, has closed a €250,000 funding round after its stint at Lanzadera, Juan Roig’s accelerator.
Organizing a group booking remains a logistical challenge in the sector. Users face a lack of information and difficulties coordinating decisions; and restaurants contend with limited control over attendees, misaligned payments, and a manual operation that directly affects profitability.
In this context, Komvo centralizes in a single platform the search, selection and reservation of restaurants tailored to the group’s preferences, while offering establishments a comprehensive event- and group-reservation management solution, especially designed for venues with high turnover of these plans, or hospitality groups and brands with staff dedicated solely to event management.
How does it work?
The app lets users discover and select among different restaurants in Madrid, Spain, through customized filters such as cuisine type, budget or location. At the same time, venues structure their group offers with set menus, minimum spends or open bars.
Moreover, the platform includes tools to manage attendees, centralize payments and reduce operational risks such as cancellations or last-minute changes, automating a process that is typically handled manually. In other words, for the restaurant, Komvo also functions as an event-management software, allowing teams to issue budgets, assign owners, organize a reservations calendar, manage deposits and advance payments, and define terms of use or cancellation policies. All of it with direct communication with the customer from a single interface, which reduces operational risk and multiplies efficiency in group management.
Komvo, the new player in Madrid’s startup scene
In less than a year, the company has established itself in Madrid with more than 100 active locations and thousands of users who rely on the platform regularly to organize birthdays, lunches, dinners and corporate events.
“Rising costs and staff turnover are squeezing margins across the sector, forcing restaurants to find new avenues of efficiency,” explained Javier Latasa, Chief Executive Officer of Komvo. “Group reservations increase average spend and optimize occupancy. Our goal is to support them in this management and ensure the real profitability of collective bookings.”
“Today, many restaurants manage groups through messaging channels or internal notes, which makes control and planning difficult. Komvo enables structuring that demand through a measurable, automated system that offers greater security for both the user and the restaurant,” added Nacho Lozano, Chief Technology Officer.
