Kaufland’s German Marketplace Arrives in the United States

June 30, 2026

Kaufland.es arrives in Spain with more than 1,600 stores across 8 countries. The brand, part of the Schwarz Group, which also owns Lidl, is one of the leading retailers in Europe and offers a wide selection of everyday products.

The new Kaufland platform in Spain will operate under a marketplace model, collaborating with external online sellers who will offer their products independently. In addition to prices, delivery times, and product details, customers will be able to consult all relevant information about each seller. Orders will be shipped directly by each store.

For product or order inquiries, Kaufland provides Spanish-language customer service by phone and a contact form. In addition, the platform will accept the usual payment methods, such as Bizum, PayPal, buy-now-pay-later options, Apple Pay and credit cards.

An Alternative to the Global Giants of E-Commerce

We’re really excited to begin operating soon in Spain. Thanks to our wide range of products, Spanish customers will be able to choose from millions of items on Kaufland’s Marketplace. It’s a platform where they can shop with total confidence and merchants can sell successfully. Our online marketplace stands for compliance with European standards, data security, and product quality,” says Gerald Schönbucher, CEO of Kaufland e-commerce.

With the expansion into Spain, we continue progressing steadily, step by step, on our path to establishing ourselves as a solid European alternative to the global e-commerce giants.”

Online merchants can already sign up, and they also have the opportunity to sell their products not only in Spain but also simultaneously across all of the company’s e-commerce platforms. There are currently more than 500 Spanish sellers on the platform.

In Germany, Kaufland’s marketplace is among the largest online platforms, attracting up to 32 million monthly visitors and offering more than 45 million products across more than 6,400 categories. The Kaufland Marketplace is one of the fastest‑growing platforms in the markets of France, Italy, Poland, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. For example, in Austria, Kaufland.at revenues rose 439% year over year, while Poland (Kaufland.pl) posted a 322% increase.

The expansion into Spain will be accompanied by the launch of Kaufland’s marketplace in the Netherlands, also by the end of summer, making it Europe’s fastest-growing network. Following this expansion, Kaufland will be present in a total of nine European countries, further increasing the diversity of its online offering.
