At FESPA, HP unveiled its new line of printers HP DesignJet Z6 and Z9 PostScript Plus Edition, marking a new step in the evolution of its large-format graphic printing portfolio. Designed for small and mid-size businesses, including photography studios, retailers, copy shops, educational institutions, and architectural firms, the new series combines high image quality with streamlined workflows on a single platform.
“Today, print businesses need to do more with less: faster turnarounds, broader applications, and consistent quality,” said Daniel Martínez, senior vice president and president of HP’s Large-Format Printing division. “The HP DesignJet Z6 and Z9 PostScript Plus Edition series is designed to deliver the precision, quality, and productivity customers need to grow profitably.”
Designed to deliver image quality, productivity and simplicity
These new printers are built for applications ranging from professional photography and retailer graphics to posters and technical prints. Thanks to HP Pixel Control technology and HP Vivid Photo inks, these printers produce crisp details, smooth gradients, and prints that resist water and fading1. HP’s drop-on-demand ink technology also enables high-quality results without the need for light inks, helping maintain productivity across multiple substrates.
The HP DesignJet Z9⁺ Plus Edition is designed for color-critical applications, such as professional photography and high-end graphics. It also features an integrated spectrophotometer0F to ensure consistent color calibration and the optional HP Gloss Enhancer for greater gloss uniformity1F.
Productivity-focused print modes can boost performance by up to 90%, while dual-roll compatibility, automatic roll switching, and an integrated vertical cutter help reduce manual intervention and post-processing time.
The printers also integrate with the HP Click application and driver, helping users streamline file preparation and reduce reprints6, while HP Wolf Pro Security helps protect devices, data, and print workflows7.
New HP PrintOS Production Hub features
HP PrintOS Production Hub4F — the only wide-format software that unifies order management, job preparation, and remote print control in a single connected workflow5F — continues to evolve with new capabilities designed to remove friction at every stage of the print production process.
Historically, managing client communications during preproduction has been a major bottleneck for print service providers (PSPs). The new order-approval feature lets clients review, request changes, and approve jobs directly from the platform, helping speed approvals, reduce errors, and improve visibility across the PSP’s organization.
The new Orders API enables integration with CRM, ERP, MIS, and accounting systems, reducing manual data entry and improving workflow traceability.
The new “AI Upscale Image” feature in Production Hub uses AI to enhance low-resolution images during file preparation, helping reduce reprints and manual corrections to streamline the process and make it more accessible.
Taken together, these new features reinforce HP’s commitment to helping print service providers of any size operate in more connected, efficient, and scalable printing environments.
