D-Link has launched its range DGS-1250 Smart Managed Switches with Gigabit ports, Power over Ethernet and four 10 Gigabit SFP+ fiber uplinks. This new family has been developed to meet the growing bandwidth demand at the network edge, where computers or devices such as Wi-Fi access points connect to the increasingly essential wireless network, whose performance depends on avoiding bottlenecks in access switches. By featuring 10 Gigabit uplinks to the aggregation, core, or routing/servers layer, it enables companies to deploy highly efficient networks, while maintaining the simplicity and affordable cost of Smart Switches.
The DGS-1250 can also act as a core switch in small businesses, since it integrates network management with the most in-demand features in those environments, such as network segmentation via VLANs, L3 Static Routing, robust security, etc. In addition, it enables local management or cloud management with the new unified enterprise network management ecosystem, D-Link Nuclias Unity.
To adapt to diverse environments, the series offers a flexible range including the models DGS-1250-28X, DGS-1250-28XP (PoE), DGS-1250-52X and DGS-1250-52XP (PoE). Each model features four fiber uplink ports of SFP+, supporting 10 Gigabit uplink connectivity to the backbone and via fiber for long-distance transmission.
Key features of the DGS-1250 series:
- High density of copper Gigabit ports and 10 Gigabit fiber uplinks through SFP+.
- Power Over Ethernet with 30W per port and a PoE Budget of up to 370W. 6kV protection on all copper ports to guard against electrical surges, protecting connected devices (computers, Wi‑Fi access points, storage units, routers, etc.).
- Access to switch management offers multiple options; locally (via WebGUI graphical interface or with a command-line interface, Full CLI, through a console port) or remotely from the cloud with D-Link Nuclias Unity, which delivers unified administration of the entire network environment, including switches and Wi‑Fi (access points), from a 100% cloud platform with multi-site and multi-tenant capabilities.
- Complete Layer 2 management with advanced segmentation (VLANs, Q-in-Q VLAN extension), Spanning Tree (STP) and LACP link aggregation. Layer 3 Static Routing to optimize traffic and relieve the backbone.
- Enterprise-grade network security. Protect critical data and corporate network resources with robust security features such as D-Link Safeguard Engine, 802.1X port-based authentication, access control lists (ACLs) and Storm Control.
