ASOLIVA Members Boost Exports by 23% in 2025

April 2, 2026

The Spanish Association of the Olive Oil and Pomace Oil Industry and Trade Export (ASOLIVA) closes 2025 with a total of 592,000 metric tons exported of olive oil and pomace oil, representing a 23% rise from the previous year. Production recovery after two seasons marked by a reduced harvest has allowed the sector to resume its growth path and strengthen its international leadership.

Of the total volume exported by these companies, 529,528 metric tons were olive oil alone. Of this amount, 37% (195,000 metric tons) went to the European Union, while 63% (334,839 metric tons) were destined for non-EU markets, underscoring the growing weight of non-EU markets in Spain’s export strategy.

Key Destination Markets

The United States remains the priority market and the main destination for Spanish olive oil, with 102,313 metric tons exported in 2025. The American market thus grew by 22% versus the prior year, consolidating itself as the world’s largest importer of olive oil, with demand rising year after year, driven by a loyal consumer base that increasingly values the health benefits of the product. This year has also been marked by institutional support from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which has endorsed olive oil as a healthy option within the diet, reinforcing its position in the country.

The United Kingdom ranks second among international destinations and records a 31% increase in exports compared with 2024. They are followed by the markets of China, notable for increasing imports from Spain by 57% year over year, Australia, up 21%, and Canada, which increases its volume of Spanish-origin olive oil by 50%.

ASOLIVA’s director, Rafael Pico, notes that “the performance of 2025 demonstrates the sector’s structural strength and international markets’ confidence in the quality of Spanish olive oil. After two years of production constraints, 2025 closes as a year of recovery for Spanish exports thanks to a return-to-normalcy campaign, the rebound of key markets, and the strengthening of Brand Spain abroad.”

Among the total import volume, the rise of packaged olive oil is especially noteworthy, as it represents a strategic factor for the sector by strengthening the positioning of Brand Spain abroad.

With these results, Spain reaffirms its global leadership as the world’s top olive oil exporter and approaches 2026 with prudence and prospects for consolidation in the major international markets, particularly in those where consumption continues to grow alongside health trends and a broader culinary culture.
