Rehatrans, the Spanish company dedicated to adapting vehicles for people with mobility impairments, celebrates its 30th anniversary after three decades driving the evolution of accessible mobility in Spain. Its story began in 1996, when its founder, Antonio Soriano, saw during a trip to Paris a taxi with a ramp for wheelchairs and decided to bring to Spain a solution that could help improve mobility and independence for many people.
Since then, the company has progressed from a small specialized workshop to becoming a pioneering factory within the sector, keeping people at the core of every step of its journey.
Behind every adapted vehicle there is a person seeking greater autonomy, a family, a transportation professional, a company, or an entity that needs to offer more accessible mobility. This way of understanding its activity has accompanied Rehatrans from the beginning and continues to guide its growth and its commitment to more inclusive mobility.
“When my father started this story 30 years ago, it was surely hard to imagine how far it could go. Today we have a factory, new production lines, and a team prepared to keep growing, but we still have the same purpose: to help people move with greater autonomy and freedom,” says Óscar Soriano, CEO of Rehatrans.
From Workshop to Factory
One of the main milestones of this evolution has occurred over the last two years, when the growth of activity led Rehatrans to profoundly transform its industrial model. After completing a strategic investment of one million euros, the company expanded its facilities in Getafe (Madrid), from 4,000 to 20,000 m², making them among the largest in Europe within the market for adapted vehicles.
The new factory includes two production lines dedicated to standardized work, along with individual stations for customized adaptations. Rehatrans is the only company in Spain within its sector to have this manufacturing system, which allows increasing productivity, improving the quality of finishes and responding more quickly to the needs of individuals, transportation professionals, companies and social entities.
This transformation will enable the company to reach a production capacity of around 1,100 vehicles per year by 2026, with an average pace of 90 units per month. Rehatrans reaches its 30th anniversary after closing 2025 with 850 transformed vehicles, a 30% increase over the previous year, and a turnover of €10.5 million, representing 22% growth.
“The evolution of these past years has allowed us to take the definitive step from workshop to factory. We now have more capacity, more efficient processes, and higher standards of quality. It’s a big leap, but it only makes sense if it allows us to offer better solutions, respond better to our customers, and continue improving mobility and independence for people,” says Óscar Soriano.
A Shared Celebration
Rehatrans celebrated its 30th anniversary at its Getafe (Madrid) facilities, in an event attended by more than 350 people. The gathering brought together customers, automobile manufacturers, dealers, social entities, associations, employees and family members who have supported the company over the past three decades.
Presented by Juanma Ortega, the event took attendees on a tour of the company’s key moments and allowed them to see the new facilities and the factory’s operations. The celebration recalled the company’s origins with its founder, Antonio Soriano, retrieved testimonials from people linked to different stages of these 30 years, and blended memories, music and moments of gratitude. More than a corporate affair, it was a tribute to all the people and organizations that have contributed to Rehatrans’s development since its inception.
Under the slogan “30 years, 30 reasons to celebrate with you”, Rehatrans sought to turn the anniversary into a gesture of appreciation to those who have been part of its story. “These 30 years are not explained solely by numbers, facilities, or adapted vehicles. They are the result of the effort of our team and the trust of customers, manufacturers, dealers, associations and entities that have moved forward with us. All of them have been and continue to be part of our story,” emphasizes Óscar Soriano.
The anniversary also marks the starting point of a new phase for Rehatrans. The company will continue investing in innovation, talent, process optimization and the development of increasingly advanced solutions, with the aim of meeting growing demand and contributing to mobility that is more accessible and inclusive.
