Brother has unveiled three new models designed for professionals who need to digitize documents on the go or in environments with limited space. The new DSmobile family updates the company’s current lineup of portable scanners and adds improvements aimed at easing daily use, connectivity, and the durability of the devices.
The new range comprises the DS-640e, DS-740De, and DS-940DWe models, developed to meet the needs of users who require lightweight, compact, and easy-to-transport gear. Thanks to their small footprint, the devices can be conveniently stored in a bag or a car’s glove box, and they’re easy to use on reception desks, worktables, or during commutes. All models are powered via USB-C, a feature that eases compatibility with a variety of devices and simplifies use when working outside the office. In addition, Brother designed these scanners to extend their lifespan, and they are shipped in easily recyclable cardboard packaging.
“Scanning documents on the go should be a light and straightforward process,” says José Ramón Sanz, product marketing manager for Brother Iberia. “Our new range of portable scanners takes that concept a step further with devices that truly occupy very little space both while on the move and in use. Moreover, they run on USB-C to offer simple connectivity and broad compatibility, are built with durability in mind, and come in easily recyclable cardboard packaging. They are, without a doubt, a perfect option for anyone who needs a ultra-compact, reliable portable scanner that combines ease of use, thoughtful design, high performance, and long life.”
Different Types of Media
The new range includes features that enable scanning of different media—from A4 documents to receipts or IDs. The built-in software automates various tasks to speed up the scanning process, such as removing blank pages or automatically correcting skew and document orientation. Once digitized, files can be emailed directly or saved as files or images to simplify management and subsequent sending.
The DS-940DWe expands these capabilities with additional features aimed at greater autonomy. These include the ability to scan directly to a microSD card via its built-in reader and compatibility with the free Brother Mobile Connect app for scanning from mobile devices. It also features a rechargeable and replaceable battery and an LED display to make operation easier.
Meanwhile, the DS-740De and DS-940DWe incorporate duplex scanning and a USB-shaped paper feed, which reduces the space needed behind the unit by directing the output toward the top.
All models come with iPrint&Scan with OCR technology to convert scanned documents into editable files. In addition, the new devices offer scan speeds of up to 30 pages per minute (depending on model).
